PROJECT 3: CAREERS AT ALL LEVELS AND RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES

CHART A: Associate Degree (*minimum requirement must be associate degree)
A job that has a minimum of a HS diploma, even if it is an associate degree preferred cannot be used.
A job that advertises for an associate degree but states that they are willing to accept a HS diploma plus experience or the job is willing to accept *all* experience with no degree cannot be used.
A job that advertises the degree but says AND/OR a combination of education and experience cannot be used.
A job that advertises “Equivalent education and experience…” cannot be used. They are saying that completed degree is not necessarily required and they are willing to take education AND experience together to meet a two year education requirement.
If the job advertisement says “Associates (Preferred)” it cannot be used because “preferred” is not the same as “required.” Since this is the Associate degree category, a job accepting a degree above the Associate Degree cannot be used.

Complete CHART A with ONE (1) job. This is a specific job (e.g., Mental Health Technician @ Desert Willow Treatment Center; Admissions Specialist @ West Care; Psychiatric Nurse within the Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health system, etc.) that YOU could qualify for based on having an associate degree. Some students may plan to get into the job market after they complete their Associate degree. The “Specific Skills” required or desired will be in the job posting, The site to be used by all students is www.indeed.com,

CHART B: Bachelor’s Degree (*minimum requirement must be a bachelor’s degree)
A job that has a minimum of a HS diploma cannot be used.
A job that advertises an associate degree cannot be used.
A job that advertises for a bachelor’s degree but states that they are willing to accept a HS diploma plus experience or an associate degree with experience cannot be used.
A job that advertises they are willing to accept a bachelor’s degree in progress cannot be used.
A job that advertises they are willing to accept *all* experience with no degree cannot be used.
Since this is the bachelor’s degree category, a job accepting a degree above the bachelor’s degree cannot be used.
If the job advertisement says “Bachelors (Preferred)” it cannot be used because “preferred” is not the same as “required.” Since this is the bachelor’s degree category, a job accepting a degree above the bachelor’s degree cannot be used.

Complete CHART B with ONE (1) job. This is a specific job (e.g. Mental Health Technician @ Desert Willow Treatment Center; Admissions Specialist @ West Care; Psychiatric Nurse within the Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health system, etc.) that YOU could qualify for based on having a bachelor’s degree. There are many jobs available out there for students who want to go in a bit advanced (above ground level with an associate degree) and they want to get into the field with their undergraduate degree. This may also be a first job for experience as they think about entering graduate school at some point. The “Specific Skills” required or desired will be in the job posting. The site to be used by all students is www.indeed.com,

**************************

CHART C: Master’s/Doctoral Degree (*minimum requirement must be a master’s degree or higher*) A job advertising that wants a graduate degree but states that they are willing to accept bachelor’s degree or any combination of a degree below a graduate degree mixed with experience or they advertise with a preference for having a graduate degree but they are willing to accept applicants with degree below a master’s or doctorate cannot be used. Follow the same basic principles as stated in the previous degrees (on what can and cannot be used).

CHART C is set up the same as CHART A & B. It is a specific job after completing graduate level training. For example, you may find a job advertised for a Neuropsychologist (in charge of clinical operations) at Cedars Sinai in CA. Even if you do not have plans to go beyond an undergraduate degree, complete the chart with ONE (1) specific job that would be interesting, rewarding, and available if someone has the advanced degree(s). You just never know what life holds!! The site to be used by all students is still www.indeed.com.

CHART D: Research Opportunities: Below CHART D, you will find four web URLs/links to sites that provide information on research opportunities for high school students, undergraduates, and graduate students. While it is sometimes a challenge to think outside the box of local options, several of the sites will show you a large number/variety of research opportunities across the United States.

Select TWO different websites (of the four provided) and answer the questions found in CHART D.

Grading Requirements:
CHART A, B, and C are 10pts each (3 charts x 10pts each= 30pts total). Each box is worth 2.5pts.
Your assignment (done correctly) should be between 2-4 pages in length. Please do not split a chart between pages. You may have one or two charts on a page and a third on another or decide to put one chart per page.
Make sure that you are reading the requirements for what is being asked in each box. You may select local, state, or national jobs as you may have somewhere you would like to live other than here in Las Vegas.
You are using the actual job announcements that you find on www.indeed.com.

CHART D is 6pts. Each box is worth 3pts.

Format: (4pts) Submit ONLY the four completed charts as they have been provided for you (no other content should be in the document you submit). Your charts should look exactly as they appear in this assignment with all content that has been provided in the charts. You do not have to cut/paste them, reformat them, etc. You can download the entire document and then delete or cut all the material on the pages above the charts. Then, the charts with the project title will be at the top of the page. The boxes will expand as you top in them. This is an “all or nothing” point value. Any error in format will result in a loss of all format points. Make sure that the link or web URL for your job advertisement is active or hyperlinked and that it leads directly to the job you saw on the board. Just putting “indeed.com” is not enough.
Charts should not be split between pages. You can put one chart per page or two charts per page if they will fit, but no chart/content should be split between two pages (part of the chart on one page and the rest of the chart in any way on another).

GO TO NEXT PAGE (THE FOUR CHARTS CAN BE FOUND ON THE NEXT TWO PAGES. REMEMBER ONLY THE COMPLETED CHARTS AS THEY ARE PROVIDED SHOULD BE SUBMITTED). The easiest way to accomplish this is to download this document and save it to your computer. Then open the document and complete the assignment. When you are done, cut or delete the first two pages that have all the directions and all that should remain are your four charts in the same format as they were provided, with the content you have inserted into them.
